“It should come as no surprise to readers of this blog that we are delighted about the prospect of a new FDA commissioner in 2009 — one who we hope will put the interests of the people above those of large pharmaceutical companies,” says Byrd. “We have also been pleasantly surprised to see the groundswell of public support for Pfizer whistleblower Dr. Peter Rost for the FDA’s top job.”<\/p>\n

By “groundswell of public support” Byrd is referring to my “Who Should Obama Nominate for FDA Commissioner?” survey, which has about 300 respondents so far. I’ve covered some highlights of the results of this survey a few days ago (see “Meet the Person Likely to be the Next FDA Commissioner<\/a>“).<\/p>\n
