{"id":4814,"date":"2011-08-23T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2011-08-23T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.pharma-mkting.com\/index.php\/2011\/08\/23\/pmn1013-article01\/"},"modified":"2019-02-18T19:35:03","modified_gmt":"2019-02-18T19:35:03","slug":"pmn1013-article01","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/ec2-54-175-84-28.compute-1.amazonaws.com\/pharma-mkting.com\/articles\/pmn1013-article01\/","title":{"rendered":"British Pharma Digital Update: Insider Reactions to Social Media Guidelines from Industry Regulators"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>British Pharma Digital Update                Insider Reactions to Social Media Guidelines from Industry Regulators<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Confusing British Regulations\" src=\"http:\/\/ec2-54-175-84-28.compute-1.amazonaws.com\/pharma-mkting.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/Confusing_UK_Regulations_200x100.jpg\" align=\"right\" border=\"0\" height=\"100\" hspace=\"5\" width=\"200\"\/>The Association of the British Pharmaceutical Industry (ABPI) published a long-awaited digital up-date in June that addressed the issue of tracking and reporting adverse events (AEs) online.<\/p>\n<p>Previously, in April 2011,  the Prescription Medicines Code of Practice Authority (PMCPA), which oversees the self-regulatory code of the ABPI, published &#8220;informal guidance&#8221; that included specific recommendations regarding the use of Twitter by pharmaceutical companies to promote medicines. <\/p>\n<p> It doesn&#8217;t seem that these efforts made much of an impression on industry insiders who were informally surveyed by Weber Shandwick, a leading global public relations firm.  <\/p>\n<p>This article reports the results of that survey, which includes advice for how to innovate online without waiting for more specific guidelines from regulators.
