Background“At the Mayo Clinic Center for Social Media,” said Lee A. Aase on the LinkedIn Social Media Compliance Council group, “we believe that for social tools to be considered mainstream in health care, employees need to be able to access social sites during the work day. We have launched an online survey to gauge the level of policy development and also the extent of blocking, and plan to publish both a White Paper and Toolkit for those advocating open access.”
A few of the questions asked in the survey include:
- Does your organization currently maintain an official presence on these (Facebook, Linked, Twitter, Youtube, etc.) social networking sites?
- Has your organization either established a policy or developed guidelines for social media use by employees? If no, what are your organization’s plans regarding social media guidelines?
- Are (all, some, none) of the employees in your organization able to access social networking sites from their computers connected to the corporate network?
- Has your organization experienced problems due to employee access to social networking sites?
- Why is open access to social media by healthcare employees important?
- Tell us about the Mayo Clinic Center for Social Media and the Social Media Health Network
- How did the idea for a survey come about?
- Who should take the survey? What are some of the questions asked in the survey?
- What do you expect to learn from the survey results? Will we be able to break out how pharma companies responded to the survey?
- How do you plan to share the results of the survey?
