2nd Annual Forum on Continuing Medical Education
June 12-13, 2003 * Westin Philadelphia Hotel * Philadelphia, PA
CME is the number two marketing spend for pharmaceutical companies. Last year, drug companies spent about $12.5 billion promoting their products, including $2.1 billion on meetings and $7.2 billion for sales forces, according to Quintiles Informatics, Inc. Though CME is used by pharma to promote products to doctors in order to influence prescribing habits, they are intended to be an educational forum for physicians to learn about disease states and new ways to treat patients.
In January 2003, The ACCME drafted new Standards for Commercial Support that discuss how pharmaceutical involvement in CME can be perceived as a conflict of interest. This conference helps the pharmaceutical industry, and CME providers understand the new standards, which will be finalized this summer. Figure out a way to be involved in CME without breaking the new ACCME Standards and the OIG draft guidance which will be finalized this summer as well. CBI’s 2nd Annual Forum on Continuing Medical Education, June 12-13, 2003 will address how the drafted standards and guidances will influence the structure of CME, while maximizing your CME experience. Look what Past Attendees had to say about our 1st Forum on Continuing Medical Education:
