FDA to Use Computer Modeling to Speed Up the Drug Approval Process

[From www.healthcareitnews.com] The U.S. Food and Drug Administration plans to integrate virtual testing and computer modeling into the regulatory approval process for manufacturers, the agency revealed in a proposed work plan released Friday. The proposal is required as part of the 21st Century Cures Act.

The move would help reduce costs and speed-up the regulatory approval process. Officials said the use of the technology is part of the agency’s plans to modernize its regulatory approval process.

As part of the 21st Century Cures Act, the proposed plan will help meet outlined requirements for improving medical product innovation.

Women Lack Confidence Managing Chronic Conditions

[From cdn2.hubspot.net] According to a recent study by West and Kelton Global, only about half (52%) of women with a chronic illness feel very confident in their ability to manage their chronic condition.

Less than half (48%) say they’re at least somewhat confident that they know what their current health metrics are, and just 28 percent are confident that they know what their target metrics should be.

More than one-quarter (26%) of women feel that managing their condition is brining on stress and anxiety, which only exacerbates health challenges.

Around 38 percent of women say they want more individualized care, including tips and tools specific to them.
